Welcome! ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ

๐Ÿ”บ In this chapter, we will examine at length
What the goal and purpose is,
In what ways and in what way it should be set.

From the links below, you can reach the lists of goals that I have set for myself and that I will update regularly.

i If you are visiting the site for the first time, you can review “Who is This HY” and “My Story” sections to get more information about me.

๐Ÿ” Let’s start!

what is the goal

Each of us exists in this life, creates meaning, sets goals and objectives around needs and meanings, and strives to achieve them. When there is a valuable asset and success to be acquired through difficulties, there are always goals. Because moving forward without goal and purpose is like randomly skidding around in the ocean, unaware of where it is, where it’s going, why it’s going, or what it’s doing. This implies complete uncertainty, lack of control, and inability to determine one’s own destiny.

In such a case, we have left ourselves to the initiative of life. Life, on the other hand, never pities the uncontrolled, the ineffective. He knits his noose-noose shirt of misery and puts it on his head at once.

Power means having control over other living and inanimate elements by exerting influence for personal purposes.
This is through conscious and deliberately directed action.

Life is based on the rules of power. The strong and the adaptable survive and rise, while the weak and the weak perish. This is precisely what occurs from the phenomenon of ” Natural Selection” , which constitutes the main dynamic of life. This dynamic cannot be ignored, and even if it is, it cannot exist without following its rules, it will disappear. It is for these reasons that in this life we either work to optimize our levels of power and control in line with our wants and desires, or we surrender to uncontrollability and powerlessness and open all our doors to misery and suffering. The most reasonable actions we should perform, then, as a being who escapes from discomfort and rushes to pleasure, would be to strive to retain power and control and achieve more. A person cannot remain stationary anyway. If it comes to living to good standards, it is obliged to strive to rise. However, at this point, issues such as satisfaction and discomfort also come into play. We will examine all of them in detail in the “Development” section. But for now, let’s look at the relationship between capacity and targets:

Man cannot remain static, he either strives and rises or passes into decline day by day. Man is made up of capacities. It may have a different capacity in each subject, and therefore competence. These capacities are dynamic, optimable and have flexible limits. A person either strives to keep the capacity alive and expand day by day or witnesses the destruction of the capacity he has developed so far day by day. Man either advances or regresses, and to think that he will remain in a fixed position would only be self-deception. The issue of capacity is the most fundamental element of the concept of “Development” . Development is all about optimizing capacity. We will consider this concept in more detail in the relevant section.

what is the goal
Goals & Capacity Relationship

When we define the goal as the “final point to be reached” and set a goal for ourselves, the difference in capacity between our current situation and the goal will show us how many units of work we need to perform. As seen in the image above, if we are aiming for a target of 25 units and our current capacity is sufficient for 20 units to achieve it, we will need to develop another 5 units. At this point, we can define the real success as “reaching a capacity of 25 units”. Then the issue of how to reach this “missing capacity of 5 units” is about how to proceed while achieving the targets. Now, if you want, let’s take a look at what the goals and objectives are, their differences, how they are set, what criteria should be considered when setting them.

What is the Purpose and Goal, What are the Differences? ๐Ÿค”

๐ŸŽฏ GOAL: It is the ultimate result to be reached, it specifies the direction. It is the compass for goals.

๐ŸŽฏ OBJECTIVES: These are the final points that define how to proceed in achieving the goals, what resources will be used, what should be done & not done for success, and also include each sub-result to be achieved towards the goal. In other words, objectives are the results that are clearly defined by the intention to reach the main result together with the sub-results that must be reached in the process of achieving the goals.

  1. While goals express the greatest and final outcome, objectives include clearer plans for how to achieve those goals.
  2. Objectives are built on goals.
  3. Every goal contains a purpose.
  4. The goal specifies the final point and direction to go. The objective is about how to move in that direction.

GOAL SETTING โœ๐Ÿผ

What Should We Pay Attention to When Setting Our Goals!?

First of all, for those who do not know themselves in this life, who have not found any meaning, setting goals in the ways imposed on them means that they will succumb to the process before it even begins . Goals can be achieved as a result of people getting to know themselves, creating a meaning and moving forward passionately in line with these meanings. If people don’t know themselves and don’t have any meaning, and they feel lost, their goal is to first get to know themselves and create meanings in this life that they can truly embrace.

Building Methodology โš’

In this life, I believe that,

If man has the knowledge of method, he can achieve everything within his liFmits.

โ— If we don’t know something, the first thing we need to do is build ” methodological knowledge” . This will illuminate the path we will take.

๐Ÿ” Let’s take a closer look at this issue:

When we have no insight into ourselves and want to move in one direction, it’s like moving randomly in a pitch-black cave. Most of the time we hit ourselves somewhere or get stuck in obstacles and fall. The subjects and locations in life that will really excite us and that we wish to be a part of are like a door to be opened inside this cave or a light that will show just behind a wall of the exit. It determines your main purpose and goal by guiding you in which direction to go. From that point on, the state of discomfort gnawing at the inside, which arises from the feelings of eternal loss, lack of control, and defeat up to that moment, leaves one to the excitement of the possibility of self-determination inan instant. The higher your belief that you can achieve your goal, the faster you will progress to the final exit. The most important factor that influences your belief is your perception of control over the process and your confidence in your own capacity. For this, you need to shed light on the uncertainty and risks, that is, the darkness. Illuminating the road is only possible with the construction of methodological knowledge. This is the design of the process. It is to shed light on the whole path. So what needs to be done?

Whatever you do, if you want to do it in the best way:

  1. First, do some research to see if anyone has already accomplished what you want to do .

  2. Otherwise, look for those who indirectly accomplish what you want to accomplish.

  3. Or divide the work you want to do into sub-functions and breakdowns and find out if there are individual people who accomplish each function.

  4. Analyze what paths these successful people have gone through, what decisions they have made, what resources they have used, where they have allocated these resources, and under what conditions they have acted. Briefly examine the processes they go through thoroughly.

  5. Then bring together all the information you have acquired in a way that serves to achieve your purpose, taking into account your current situation.

  6. In this way you will find many pieces of light that will illuminate your own path. Each piece of light will brighten your path even more, showing you a more traversible and safe path down the road. You will be able to see the obstacles and potholes more clearly and move forward more comfortably by taking your precautions. When you collect light until you have an affordable amount of risk, you can now focus entirely on the light at the end of the cave and look to get out of there at full speed, now your focus is clear.

  7. Move!

๐Ÿ” Underlying this theory are the working dynamics of the human brain . Thanks to the construction of methodological knowledge, creativity and analysis skills ,

1. Providing filtered data input for a focused purpose,
2. It involves analyzing and assembling data in a way that serves the purpose and building a new way and
method for the purpose of 3.

โ— The more and higher the quality input to the purpose in this process, the more painless this birth process will be.

Which Resources Can Be Consulted to Create Method Information?

Which Resources Can Be Consulted to Create Method Information?

The resources that can be consulted in this research and information collection process are all kinds of multimedia on the internet (-
Videos,
Films containing autobiography,
Documentaries,
Training videos,
-Social platforms that will allow you to reach those people directly, for example, Linkedin, etc.),
-Being in the same environment with those people face to face, there can be many different environments and platforms such as meeting and consulting,
Books,
Seminars,
-Learning through courses.

For example

Let’s say you want to be a butcher. In this case, the sources of information you can get information may be to consult ways and methods such as local butchers, butchery courses, scanning information on these topics on the Internet. Since butchery is a hands-on business, you don’t have the chance to learn it from books. Rather than learning the main function you can get from books, there may be activities aimed at performing the function better and creating meaning related to that subject. For example, butchery can be given as developing a perspective, a vision of meat. By acting this way, you learn more and more about the way and the method, and when the methodology is complete, all that remains is to apply. In that process, many issues such as motivation, discipline and willpower will come into play. We will discuss these processes in the “Enlightenment Series” as appropriate.

Thus, after creating the method knowledge, we have realized how to proceed in the process and the sub-ranges we need to reach. Now it’s time to turn them into concrete goals!

SMART as an Effective Goal Setting Method ๐ŸŽฏ

what is the goal

S= SPECIFIC
M= MEASURABLE
A= ATTAINABLE
R= RELEVANT
T= TIMEBOUND

In short, if we want to move our wishes and dreams beyond good intentions, we must translate them into concrete goals that are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant , and time-bound .

๐Ÿ” Now let’s take a closer look at each of them:

1) SPECIFIC = This means that the target is special, that is, the focus is on a specific area by narrowing its boundaries.
– What needs to be achieved?
– What are the scope and limits of the target?
– What needs to be done and not done to achieve that thing?
– What resources does this target require?

2) MEASURABLE = This criterion refers to the qualitative and quantitative measurability of the target.
– In this way, the target can be divided into sub-targets and feedback can be obtained from questions such as whether success can be achieved while progressing towards the targets and to what extent the control status is obtained.
– Measurability enables feedback, and often the most sustainable successes come from goals with the most intense feedback flow.
– One of the most important steps of measurability is to determine key performance measures/indicators (KPIs) and classify them according to their importance weights. In this way, feedback can be collected more on these criteria.
– Measurability is essential to setting goals.
It’s important to remember that:

You can’t manage what you can’t measure !”

Peter DRUCKER

3) ATTAINABLE = This criterion is where you question whether you can honestly overcome your goals with your limited resources and capacity.
– Goals and plans should be realistic. A plan that does not correspond to reality will only frustrate you and lead to the waste of your resources.
– When determining the targets, analysis of the existing capacity, analysis of elasticity as well as analysis of the limited resources should be carried out and whether they will be sufficient to achieve the objectives and if so, whether the capacity gap can be closed within the framework of the limited resources owned. Then, according to all these analyzes, clear and unambiguous action plans are carried out and achievable targets are set.

4) RELEVANT = This criterion means that the goals you set are appropriate to your values and long-term goals (your ultimate goal).
Does this goal you set for yourself bring you closer to you or does it take you away from your true potential and self? Are you compromising yourself?
– Goals you will set for yourself; it should serve your long-term goals, your vision.

Anything that doesn’t serve your goals will take you away from them!

5) TIMEBOUND = Refers to the fact that goals should be tied to certain deadlines within the concept of time and should be determined taking into account the amount of time taken to accomplish the relevant goal.
– Is now the right time to achieve this goal?
– How much time do you have in total to accomplish the relevant goal?
– Will it be worth the time to accomplish this goal, or are there better alternatives? (What is the opportunity cost?)
– What are your priorities and how much time will be allocated for each sub-task & goals?
– When will the deadlines of the final target and sub-targets be?

FOCUS ON THE GOAL ๐Ÿง

Focusing on the goal refers to moving forward by locking in with pure concentration and dedication to the desired outcome. Any situation and stimulus that will interrupt this situation will be expressed as distractions. Distractions are divided into two classes:

1) Internal Distractions: They are stimuli arising from all kinds of doubts, anxieties, fears that will distract the focus on the target and weaken the mental state.

2) External Distractions: They are stimuli that are not caused by the mental state and affect the person due to sound, noise, physical contact in the external environment.

Internal Distractions ๐Ÿคฏ

The strongest and most fundamental of the distractions are internal distractions. A mindset that is not well established from the inside is doomed to fall in the process. In order to build a good mindset, one must have a deep understanding of oneself and the process one will embark on. In general, the biggest deficiencies in these processes are the defects in undeveloped personalities and selves. People should first be aware of them and close them. The more self-knowledge and control skills the person has developed, the more successful he will be in the goals he will address and the more distant he will be from internal distractions. If the internal distractions are intense, the rate at which the external ones affect the person increases.

๐Ÿ” Let’s look at examples of internal distractions:

  • The perception of control decreases, the person begins to believe that he cannot handle it
  • Strengthening thebelief that the gain to be achieved as a result of achieving the relevant goal is not worth the effort and resources to be spent
  • Although the reward to be obtained as a result of the target is meaningful, the meaninglessness of the process

Often valuable assets are acquired at the end of difficult processes. Challenging processes require a lot of energy, time, and effort (sometimes with resources). As a result, if the person has not been able to assign enough meaning to the process and if the gain to be obtained as a result of the process is not meaningful enough to overshadow even the process, the person begins to doubt and lose faith in the process, and in the end, he either leaves the struggle or is defeated by continuing until the end of the process, even if it is inefficient, with the belief that it will be corrected in some way. Because our brain has a deep grasp of the seriousness of limited resources, and because the information we can acquire and the energy we have are also limited, it always works by unconsciously dehumanizing what is useful, meaningful, and emotional.

For this reason,
1) Before a difficult process, a person should question himself well,
2) He should enter by clearly deciding that the process he will enter is the best and with a high conviction,
3) If there are elements that threaten the struggle process, he should identify them in advance and eliminate them, but he should start the struggle in that way.

Otherwise,
Poor meaningfulness,
High anxiety due to threats,
– Doubts about whether the path is the best,
– Doubts about whether the person does not set realistic goals or – Doubts arising from his weak belief in his own ability will be the biggest enemies of the person in the process of achieving his goals and will lead him to defeat.

โ— At the center of internal distractions is always the “I.” All situations are about trying to improve our well-being through the effort to make our “self” better, and the threats encountered during the continuous optimization activities in this process are a big group of distractions. The biggest distraction is the doubt about whether the process is best and serves the “self.” Without these two, the goal can never be looked at clearly. Even if you try to focus on the target, the visibility will be blurred and there will be a very vulnerable mentality to attacks. In this case, you will be open and vulnerable to all kinds of stimuli that are not related to your goals, and you will not be able to focus. Let’s explain this situation with a metaphor:

what is the goal
Get rid of the woodpeckers in you!
Noah’s Ark as the Mind

๐Ÿงพ Our minds are like Noah’s ark in the image. We, like Noah, are both the architect and the captain of the ark. The more solidly we build the ship, the more confident we will be to our goal. Animals, on the other hand, represent various thoughts in the mind. Maybe we have a lot of thoughts about many different situations. Here, if the thoughts do not harm each other and the ship, which is the common life, that is, the mental state, then everything is fine. But whoever damages the ship and the common living space must be thrown off the ship for the benefit of all. There are some thoughts that are particularly “suspicious” (we mentioned a few above), just like the woodpecker in the image. It constantly drills holes in the boat, in your mindset. The weaker the ship, the easier it will be to drill these holes and the faster the sinking will occur. The waters that would normally carry us to our goals have begun to hurt us as the holes increase, so much so that it even brings us to an end. For such reasons, woodpeckers should be searched one by one on board and should not be continued until each one is detected and discarded. If the departure is not taken, it should be thoroughly sure whether there are woodpeckers on the ship so that it can proceed smoothly. Because to continue on the road with woodpeckers and bedbugs means to sink before reaching the halfway. This should be recognized and acted upon. In other words, you should go down to the source of toxic thoughts containing doubt, anxiety and fear that will wear you down from the inside, destroy what needs to be eliminated and repair what needs to be repaired so that you can get through this whole difficult journey smoothly and directly!

External Distractions ๐Ÿ”•

what is the goal
Psychic Entropy ๐Ÿง

Now let’s look at external distractions. If you’re internally distracted, you’re overly open to external distractions. Factors that would not normally affect you begin to warn us. Because the mind begins to think that it cannot overcome it, that it is not worth the energy to be spent, and internal disorganization occurs. This situation in itself leads to a high discomfort and stress situation. Since the main purpose of the brain is to reach the happiness hormone in an easy way, it is not very important for him whether the work done is efficient or not. The only thing that is important for him is not to be in a state of discomfort and to satisfy himself by engaging in activities that provide pleasure. This being the case, every morning when we wake up, our brain immediately prioritizes where to get the happiness hormone most easily. In doing so, it also takes into account its current situation and whether there are any situations that threaten its resources. Because the importance of maintaining our existence rather than what we will acquire is strongly engraved in our genetics. For this reason, our brain always acts towards maintaining its current state rather than acquiring something new. Because the worsening of the current situation means more discomfort, it means having to spend as much time again as the effort spent. That is why when someone offers us 100 liras to act in line with an action, maybe we do not care and we do not act, but when we are faced with losing 100 liras in our pocket, we do our best not to lose immediately. It is for such reasons that when there is a threat, the brain may prefer not to fall into discomfort and loss to take more happiness hormones. However, when there is no situation that threatens our current standard, our brain usually turns to what it will enjoy momentarily from working for a future entity.

For example,

๐Ÿ“‘ What you need to do is to study for your exams, but the exam period has come and there have been many workloads that you should have done on time but have not studied, and high doubts have begun to form in you about whether you can overcome it because you have a short period of time. On the one hand, your brain will be forcing you to hold back because it has to expend a lot of energy. If you can’t show your brain at that point that this work can be done little by little by breaking it into small pieces during that time and that what you do is useful and meaningful, it will force you to give up completely. In this high state of discomfort, the standards you will acquire after the exam or the standards you will lose if you fail the exam will push you to do this job or leave you from doing it. In this way, the brain makes a calculation taking into account all these other equations that we are talking about and perhaps not aware of, and according to it, it directs you to a decision and eventually to an action.

Another example is

๐Ÿ“š It is wanting to get into the habit of reading books. If you haven’t questioned why you want to read, what benefits the book will bring you, how it will serve your goals and future ideals, and if you haven’t put the roots of reading books into your mind for these reasons, your brain will probably turn to activities that require less dopamine, and you’ll find yourself hanging out on TV, social media, playing games, or spending time on other dopamine-fueling activities in an easy way. Especially if the discomfort of other problems has intensified, this is almost inevitable. Endure discomfort; how you perceive that process, your self-esteem, your level of emotional intelligence and willpower will shape how you act in this situation.

Now that we see what kind of action our brain prefers in a situation, let’s examine how we can take action against the factors that can fall us in the process. Nowadays, mobile phones, laptops / computers, tablets, even smart watches and other items have started to be exposed to notification and auditory / visual data. These, in turn, affect us so much that they have become capable of changing the direction of our current stream of thought at once. Now let’s look at how we can take measures against them:

1) You can start by turning off the app notifications that flock to your mobile phone first. In particular, notifications from social media accounts can cause a significant part of the person’s mental energy to be allocated there and distribute the current focus from the very beginning. Therefore, if you turn off your notifications and set certain intervals as message & mail check times during the day, you will have the chance to take control of this process. If your social media accounts are still stuck in your mind, then the best solution to apply is to temporarily freeze the accounts.

2) If you have important and dedicated goals and projects, a greater focus is needed. The best thing you can do in this case is to block all the pathways that will provide you with dopamine in the easy way. You can remove things from your phone that you devote energy to on a daily basis but that don’t serve your goals. Games, in particular, are one of the easiest dopamine options that are not easy to manage in terms of being addictive. Therefore, if you have such a habit in the first place, it is best for you to say goodbye to them at least until you achieve your goals.

3) Besides, if you spend a lot of time with friends & family and other social situations, it’s time to manage them. Now gathering around you the people who will serve your goals and ideals, and taking time for yourself to accomplish your projects rather than other people, will help you focus on your goals and move forward more quickly. Otherwise, it is very difficult to realize projects that require an active social life and dedication. Let’s say this again and remember that “the decisions you make must align with your goals” or they will distract you from them.
